Merry Christmas – see you on Tuesday 16 January!

Hi Everyone

Thank you to everyone who came to our end of year barbecue. As 2022 draws to a close, we wish you and your families a very merry Christmas, and a safe and happy New Year!

Summer classes

This year our Christmas break runs from Sunday 18th December to Monday 15th January. Remember that your December/January fees are used to pay your annual reregistration fee to the national association, so January fees are due for ALL students, even though you may be away on holiday.

Summer classes run on Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks from Tuesday 16th January to Thursday 2nd February. These classes are held in Vellenoweth Green, under the big tree on Tamaki Drive:

  • children 8 years and under (including Kubz), 5pm-6pm;
  • children 9 years and over and adults, 6:00pm-7:30pm.

This is a lovely time of year to train outside. Wear training shoes, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. Bring your family, and have a picnic dinner after training, or pop to the beach for a swim!

Our regular schedule of classes in our regular venues will resume on Tuesday 7th February (after Waitangi Day).

ITFNZ summer camp

  • Weekend 3-5 February,
  • International Taekwon-Do Summer Camp,
  • Tui Ridge Park, Rotorua
  • with guest instructor Master Adrian Byrne from Ireland!
  • Register here.

This will be an unmissable event! Master Banicevich will be there, with over 100 practitioners from around the country. It will be an amazing learning event, and a great deal of fun. Register now!

Summer photo or video challenge

While we are on summer break, and while you are away on holiday, practise your Taekwon-Do. On the beach, in the pool, in the park – wherever, whenever.

Why not capture some great photos, or cool short video clips, and share them on our Facebook page! We may even put up prizes for the best photo and the best video, depending upon how many entries we get. Have fun this summer!

Online courses

As you become more senior in rank, there are courses you must do to progress. Many of those courses are available online, and you can do them while you are on holiday!

Sign into the ITFNZ website here. In the list of options on the right of the page, you will find “Online Courses”. Courses include:

  • Instructor induction course, for blue belts and above, and required before sitting first degree black belt;
  • Taekwon-Do Etiquette;
  • Umpire refresher course, for all grades;
  • Self defence syllabus.

Happy learning!
