End of year barbecue 17 December 2022

Hi Parents and Students

End of year barbecue

On Saturday 17th December, we have combined training at Churchill Park School 11:00am-12:15pm – including all parents, and Taekwon-Do Kubz! Come and join us for an hour of fun! Don’t miss it, and don’t be late! Wear dobok, sunscreen and a hat – we will be training outside in the sports field. Parents and family wear t-shirt and shorts, or similar.

This will replace regular Saturday classes that day – so Kubz, parents and children, combined training from 11am instead of regular classes at 9, 10 and 11am.

Following the combined training session, we have our annual Christmas barbecue, 12:15pm-2:00pm, including some thank yous and presentations.

  • We provide (real) sausages, bread, sauce, juice, water, plates, cups and cutlery.
  • Bring a plate of salad or dessert to share.
  • Adults are welcome to bring summer beverages – drink responsibly and drive safely.
  • Bring your families, too!

Summer classes

This year our Christmas break runs from Sunday 18th December to Monday 15th January. Remember that your December/January fees are used to pay your annual reregistration fee to the national association, so January fees are due for ALL students, even though you may be away on holiday.

Summer classes run on Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks from Tuesday 16th January to Thursday 2nd February. These classes are held in Vellenoweth Green, under the big tree on Tamaki Drive:

  • children 8 years and under (including Kubz), 5pm-6pm;
  • children 9 years and over and adults, 6:00pm-7:30pm.

This is a lovely time of year to train outside. Wear training shoes, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. Bring your family, and have a picnic dinner after training, or pop to the beach for a swim!

Our regular schedule of classes in our regular venues will resume on Tuesday 7th February (after Waitangi Day).

Summer photo or video challenge

While we are on summer break, and while you are away on holiday, practise your Taekwon-Do. On the beach, in the pool, in the park – wherever, whenever.

Why not capture some great photos, or cool short video clips, and share them on our Facebook page! We may even put up prizes for the best photo and the best video, depending upon how many entries we get. Have fun in the summer!

Have a very merry Christmas, and a safe and happy New Year!

Good luck, Mr Kong!

Haman Kong is grading for his 1st degree black belt on the weekend of 10-11 December 2022. Good luck, Mr Kong!

There is a session open to the public on Sunday from 12:30pm. I highly recommend you come along to support Mr Kong, see some awesome Taekwon-Do, and get an idea of what you’ll be doing when you grade for 1st degree black belt.

The grading is at De La Salle College, 81 Gray Ave, Mangere East, Auckland. Further details of who is grading are on the national website here.
